WhatsApp or Messages

Messages open in WhatsApp unless you switch the company, or one person, to Messages: iMessage on an iPhone, a text otherwise.

Every message in Crew Off opens on the sender's own phone with the words filled in, and they press send. Crew Off never sends anything itself, has no phone number, and needs no Meta business account.

The company's setting

In Settings, under Company, Messages open in is WhatsApp to start. Switch it to Messages (iMessage or text) if your crew texts instead.

One person

For someone who isn't on WhatsApp, change just them on Crew: under their name, pick WhatsApp or Messages and tap Save. Company setting follows the company.

The choice is about the person receiving: a request to Dana opens in Dana's app, an invite to Mike in Mike's.

Which to pick

  • WhatsApp works the same on every phone, and Tell the crew posts to a WhatsApp group.
  • Messages is iMessage between iPhones, and a plain text to anyone else. Nobody needs to install anything.

Either way the words and the link are the same.

On an iPhone and on Android

On an iPhone, Messages opens with the words filled in. On Android, your texting app opens; most fill in the words, and a few leave the box empty. See If a WhatsApp link doesn't open.

The crew's group

Tell the crew opens the company's app without anyone picked, so you choose the group. In Messages, type the group's name or pick it.
